We are looking into allegations made by FINRA, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, against Judith A. Johnston. FINRA barred Judy Johnston, a former representative of NY Life Securities, from the securities industry after she failed to adequately respond to a FINRA investigation. FINRA was investigating Johnston after she was the subject of several customer complaints involving the sales of variable annuities.
Judith or Judy Johnston was a financial advisor and registered representative of NYLife Securities from October 2009 to October 2016. She worked at a branch office Frisco, Texas. She has also been the subject of eight customer complaints. Johnston also worked with Tom Sorrels Insurance Agency.
Brokerage firms like NYLife Securities have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm. Brokerage firms also must take steps to ensure that their financial advisors follow all securities rules and regulations, as well as internal firm policies. When brokerage firms fail to adequately supervise their registered representatives, they may be liable for investment losses sustained by customers.
