Ahmed Gheith, formerly with Paulson Investment Company, Suspended One Year from Securities Industry
Have you lost money with financial advisor Ahmed Gheith of New York and Corvallis, New York? We are investigating allegations made by FINRA, the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority, against Ahmed Ghassan Gheith. FINRA suspended Gheith from the securities industry for one year, fined him $10,000, and ordered him to pay $31,055 in disgorgement.
FINRA was investigating Gheith regarding allegations that he engaged in an undisclosed outside business activity. Gheith was alleged to have worked with Kevin Graetz and Minish Hede, all of whom worked for Paulson Investment Company. Ahmed Gheith, Kevin Graetz, and Minish Hede solicited investors to invest in Belize Infrastructure Fund and Canyon Acquisitions, LLC, regarding the purported development of an airport in Belize. It was alleged that Gheith, Graetz, and Hede’s efforts led to investors putting $3.5 million into this Belize investment. It was further alleged that Gheith, Graetz, and Hede did not have permission from their brokerage firm, Paulson Investment Company, to sell these Belize investments.
Ahmed Gheith was a financial advisor and registered representative of Paulson Investment Company from January 2014 to August 2017. Kevin Graetz and Minish Hede were also with Paulson Investment Company from February 2013 to May 2017. They worked at branch offices in New York City. Graetz and Hede both have been the subject of numerous customer complaints.
Brokerage firms like Paulson Investment Company have a responsibility to adequately supervise all representatives who are registered through their firm. Brokerage firms also must take steps to ensure that their financial advisors follow all securities rules and regulations, as well as internal firm policies. When brokerage firms fail to adequately supervise their registered representatives, they may be liable for investment losses sustained by customers.
